Investing in Ministry Education and Further Education

KCML-8184

The Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand has long placed an emphasis on education. Over the years, Presbyterians have invested heavily in founding both public and private schools, as well as universities and higher education institutions.

We have also insisted in a well-educated clergy out of a conviction that devotion to the Word of God is at the centre of the Church’s life.

The Presbyterian Development Society of Aotearoa New Zealand is committed to investing in education. We believe investing in an educated clergy and in the ongoing education of the whole people of God will help the Church navigate the rapidly changing and uncertain world we now minister in.

We will do this by:

  • Reducing financial barriers to people considering ordained ministry in the church
  • Encouraging people in the church to give theological study a go
  • Enabling a greater diversity of people in our church to complete higher education with a view to becoming ministry educators
  • Enabling other workers in the church to do further education and professional development
